Airtel Champions League tickets on sale

The much anticipated Champions League Twenty20 tournament kicks off in two weeks time with the first match in Port Elizabeth being played on Saturday 11 September.  Tickets to this international Twenty20 event are currently on sale.

Local franchise team and South African domestic cricket champions the Chevrolet Warriors cemented their place in the series earlier this year after emerging victorious in the Standard Bank Pro20 series.  The bizhub Highveld Lions who finished as runners up in the same tournament is South Africa's only other qualifying team for the Airtel Champions League Twenty20.

Eastern Cape cricket fans will be treated to home ground clashes between the Warriors and top domestic teams from across the globe including the Wayamba Elevens from Sri Lanka, the Victorian Bushrangers from Australia, and the Central Stags from New Zealand.  A particularly exciting match to look forward to is the Warriors' final round-robin match against IPL champions the Chennai Super Kings.  The Chennai Super Kings side features players like spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan, "Mr. Cricket" Michael Hussey,  world-class striker Matthew Hayden and Indian wicket keeper and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

"We are really looking forward to seeing a full stadium in support of the Warriors," said CEO of Cricket Eastern Cape, Dave Emslie.  "Our stadium is well known for its great vibe and enthusiastic supporters and we hope that the Airtel Champions League will be no different.  This is an ideal opportunity to show the cricketing world that Nelson Mandela Bay is a capable host of world class cricket events," Emslie said.

Tickets to single matches at St. George's Park are set at R30 per person for unreserved seats and R75 per person for reserved seats.  Double header match tickets which grants ticket holders entry to both matches on a double header match day are priced at R50 per person for unreserved seats and R100 per person for reserved seats.  No single match tickets will be available for double header match days.

Tickets are available from the St. George's Park ticket office, Computicket outlets and the Computicket website.  For more information about ticket sales or reservations, please contact the St. George's Park ticket office on 041 506 6622/041 506 6691.
